Press passes are now available for the Miami-Dade County 6th Annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit

(MIAMI, August 29, 2014) –  Members of the media who would like to cover the 6th Annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit scheduled for October 1st and 2nd at the Miami Beach Convention Center need to submit their request for press passes to the Miami-Dade County Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources by Monday, September 15th. Only a limited number of passes will be available.

The Annual Southeast Florida Climate Summit is an event of the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact, a regional partnership of Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties, their municipalities and other partners.  The Compact partners have been working together since 2009 to develop a strategy that will enable the region to adapt to the impacts of Southeast Florida’s changing climate, such as sea level rise, and to reduce its causes.  This unique collaborative effort is the first of its kind and has not yet been duplicated anywhere else.

The Summit provides a powerful and effective forum for facilitating collaborative knowledge sharing by bringing together business, government, academia, and nonprofits leaders to exchange ideas and dialogue at panel discussions and networking breaks. This year’s Summit is hosted by Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami Beach.  Prominent speakers confirmed to attend the Summit include Dr. John Holdren, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Mike Boots, Acting Director, President’s Council on Environmental Quality, and William Golden, Executive Director of the National Institute for Coastal and Harbor Infrastructure.  Please review the agenda to view additional speakers and moderators participating in the Summit: http://conta.cc/1rz1MEU.

A limited number of press passes are available. Please contact Luis Espinoza of Miami-Dade County at [email protected] or 305-372-6770 to request a press pass.  Please note that press passes for the Summit DO NOT include breakfasts, lunches, and snacks/beverages.   Members of the media who would like to join other guests during meals and refreshment breaks will need to register at http://conta.cc/1rz1MEU (select the option for “government/nonprofit” to receive the special rate of $125 per person). Please also contact Luis Espinoza once you are registered as a member of the media with meal access in order to receive your press passes.  The registration deadline for press passes is Monday, September 15, 2014.
