Bakehouse Art Complex 561 Northwest 32 Street
The Bakehouse Art Complex is a not-for-profit arts and education organization, dedicated to attracting the best artists in South Florida to a workplace in a permanent facility that provides low-rent studios, exhibition galleries, meeting rooms, classrooms, and professional development opportunities. The Complex preserves a historic 1930's commercial bakery building in Miami-Dade County; open and free to the public.
The Bakehouse was founded in 1985 when the organizers bought the abandoned American Baking Company 1930's building and property located in the Wynwood area of Miami-Dade County. After extensive interior reconfiguration, the BAC opened in 1986 to house artists' studios and exhibit their work.
The BAC, the pioneer in The Wynwood Art District, is one of Miami's most cutting-edge cultural facilities. The real treat comes when the public visits and guests can view the artists at work and purchase their creations.
