Harvey Ruvin
MIAMI-DADE CLERKFrom the Clerk:
Once again, in 2004, Miami-Dade County and the Clerk’s Office continued on our path towards major World Class status, recognized more and more for its leadership particularly in the technology and environmental arenas, as well as in building the infrastructure to expedite international commerce.
In addition, the approval of a major General Obligation Bond by the voters this year points the way to meeting future infrastructure needs.
Two years ago we announced our being recognized by the Washington, D.C. based, Public Technology Institute as having implemented the number one Technology Solution in America for 2001: the first ever comprehensive paperless traffic court system, resulting in massive efficiencies and financial benefits. See our web site for details. http://www.miamidade.com/clerk/. Just recently, the project received the coveted 2004 Computerworld Medal of Achievement. We look forward to future technology collaboratives with County government.
The County's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions have likewise been the recipient of National and International awards and has resulted in more efficient use of energy with consequent financial savings and improvement in quality of life indices. To the best of our knowledge, we are also the first jurisdiction in America to have begun a careful examination of what steps need to be taken to minimize and/or adapt to the coming impacts of climate change. This effort will produce recommendations on specific projects and their funding.
I deeply appreciate our Finance Department staff, in particular its Bond Administration Division, for the pride and thoroughness apparent in the preparation of this fully complaint Annual Report to Bondholders.
Sincerely,
