(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Each year during the month of June, Miami-Dade County observes Firefighter Memorial Month, as a way to paying tribute to all who gave their lives so that others may live. This year, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue will host a “Salute to Our Own” remembrance ceremony Friday, June 3, 2016, 10 a.m., at MDFR Headquarters.
For many years, during the month of June, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and IAFF Local 1403 have teamed up to create a display in the lobby of the Stephen P. Clark Center, in recognition of the work of fire rescue personnel, to honor those we have lost, and to continue to raise awareness about the inherent physical and mental health risks for those in the fire service. This year, in lieu of the display at the Stephen P. Clark Center, the remembrance ceremony will take place at the Memorial Wall in front of MDFR Headquarters.
The Memorial Wall serves as a constant visual of the service and sacrifice of all firefighters. This year, the names of two Miami-Dade Fire Rescue firefighters, who made the ultimate sacrifice, will be added as part of the remembrance ceremony.
