Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Engine 50 Truck Push-In Ceremony at Station #50 |

Join us in our tradition of conducting a truck push-in, as we inaugurate new service for the Village of Palmetto Bay and surrounding communities. Engine 50 will be placed into service Monday, April 8, 2019. Stationed with Rescue 50 at Fire Station #50, Engine 50 will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week staffed with an officer, driver/operator and two firefighters. This new service will provide enhanced fire protection and medical first response to the surrounding communities. This unit is one of our new “clean cab” engines, designed to limit exposure of our firefighters to harmful cancer-causing gases imbedded in our gear and equipment after a fire. Elected officials and members of the community will join our firefighters as we "push" Engine 50 into service at Station #50, located at 9798 E. Hibiscus Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157. “I am pleased that our Mayor and the Board of County Commissioners have recognized the need for this new service and approved the necessary budget to make this a reality,” said Fire Chief Dave Downey. “In order to continue to provide the highest level of life-saving care to this community, we must keep pace with growth and this new service is an example of just that.” The fire service truck “Push-In Ceremony” is a tradition that dates back to the late 1800s when fire engines were pulled by horses. When a new unit came to the station, the community would join the firefighters pushing the new unit into the station where they could then hitch the horses and ready the unit for the next emergency.
