Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Truck Push-In Ceremony at Station #64 |

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue cordially invites you to attend our tradition of conducting a truck push-in, as we inaugurate new service at our Fire Station #64 in Miami Lakes. Rescue 64 will be placed into service Monday, April 8, 2019. Rescue 64 is an advanced life support transport unit and will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week staffed with a paramedic officer and two paramedic firefighters. This new unit will serve alongside Platform 64 and Battalion 14 to enhance fire rescue services to the Town of Miami Lakes and surrounding areas in northwest Miami-Dade County. Elected officials and members of the community will join our firefighters as we "push" Rescue 64 into service at Station #64, located at 15325 NW 77 Court, Miami Lakes, FL 33016. “This new service will enhance our availability to care for those ill or seriously injured. I am pleased that our Mayor and the Board of County Commissioners have recognized the need for this new service and approved the necessary budget to make this a reality,” said Fire Chief Dave Downey. “In order to continue to provide the highest level of life-saving care to this community, we must keep pace with growth and this new service is an example of just that.” The fire service truck “Push-In Ceremony” is a tradition that dates back to the late 1800s when fire engines were pulled by horses. When a new unit came to the station, the community would join the firefighters pushing the new unit into the station where they could then hitch the horses and ready the unit for the next emergency.
