Miami-Dade Fire Rescue New Service Truck Push-In Ceremony at Station #59

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

Join us in our tradition of conducting a truck push-in, as we inaugurate new service for our Foam 4 truck at our MIA Northside Fire Station #59. Foam 4 will be placed into service Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019 at 10 a.m.

This highly specialized apparatus will be stationed at the Miami International Airport Northside Fire Station #59. Foam 4 will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will be staffed with two highly trained Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) personnel. The truck will improve MDFR's ability to respond and combat aircraft and many other types of emergencies on the north side and throughout the air operations area of MIA.

Elected officials and members of the community will join our firefighters as we ceremoniously "push" Foam 4 into service at Station #59, located at 5680 NW 36 Street, Miami, FL 33166.

The fire service truck "Push-In Ceremony" is a tradition that dates back to the late 1800s when fire engines were pulled by horses. When a new unit/service came to the station, the community would join the firefighters pushing the unit into the station where they could then hitch the horses and ready the unit for the next emergency.

Interviews will be available in English and Spanish.
