Chief Cominsky is an accomplished leader, offering over 24 years of progressive experience analyzing and facilitating practices and procedures designed to improve operational safety, economic feasibility and program effectiveness for a large metropolitan fire rescue and emergency response agency.

MDFR is currently staffed by over 2,550 employees, including over 2,000 uniformed firefighters who are trained in both fire suppression and emergency medical response.

As fire marshal, Chief Cominsky oversaw MDFR's Fire Prevention and Inspection Division, which is comprised of eight bureaus that deliver life-safety and fire prevention services, including Fire Engineering, New Construction, Existing Construction, Code Compliance, Permit Administration, Fire Investigation, Aviation Life Safety and Special Events staffing and coordination.

A South Florida native and a graduate of Southwest Senior High School, Chief Cominsky has earned an Associate Degree in Science and an Associate Degree in Arts from Miami-Dade Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Barry University, and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Barry University.
