Fannie Mae opens Mortgage Help Center in South Florida

Fannie Mae, in cooperation with Miami-Dade County and participating mortgage servicers, has opened a Mortgage Help Center in South Florida. This facility will operate as a local resource where homeowners with loans owned by Fannie Mae can obtain housing counseling and help in communicating with their servicers about mortgage workouts and other foreclosure alternatives.

Understand the foreclosure process

Consumer Services can help you understand the foreclosure process -- and your rights during the process -- so you can take steps to prevent it from happening.

Avoid foreclosure rescue scams

Don't let others prey on your fear of losing your home.  If you're having trouble making mortgage payments, contact your loan servicer to discuss your options as soon as possible.  Learn about your rights and how to avoid becoming a victim of fraud.

Registry for residential properties subject to foreclosure

Due to the pressing situation with the economy, many of our neighborhoods have been affected by unsightly abandoned/vacant homes which are undergoing foreclosure.  In order to minimize the negative impact on our neighborhoods, the Board of County Commissioners approved, on December 2, 2008, Ordinance 08-134, which requires that once a LisPendens is filed on a residential property, that the property be registered with the Office of Neighborhood Compliance (ONC) through a Registry. You can now register the property online through the ONC web site.
