TITLE
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PLACEMENT OF A COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUE AT THE GARDENS OF THE KEY BISCAYNE BRANCH LIBRARY TO HONOR THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF ELLEN MERRITT

BODY
WHEREAS, Ellen Merritt was a civic minded dedicated community gardener and founder of the Key Biscayne Branch Library Beautification Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Merritt was responsible for designing, planting and maintaining the Key Biscayne Branch Library gardens; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Merritt's hard work and dedication resulted in providing for a beautifully planned and maintained public garden at the Key Biscayne Branch Library; and
WHEREAS, Ellen Merritt passed away on April 27, 2007; and
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County owns and operates the Key Biscayne Branch Library as part of the Miami-Dade Public Library System; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and the Council of the Village of Key Biscayne have requested that a plaque commemorating Mrs. Merritt's dedication and work be placed in the garden of the Key Biscayne Branch Library; and
WHEREAS, this Board desires to honor Mrs. Merritt's memory by placing a commemorative plaque at the gardens of the Key Biscayne Branch Library,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board authorizes the placement of a commemorative plaque at the gardens of the Key Biscayne Branch Library in honor of the memory and contributions of Ellen Merritt.
