TITLE
RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE COUNTY MANAGER TO CREATE A SYSTEM FOR COLLECTING INK-BASED CARTRIDGES USED IN PHOTOCOPIERS, FACSIMILE MACHINES, AND PRINTERS; TO ARRANGE FOR APPROPRIATE METHOD OF SALE OF THESE CARTRIDGES; AND TO ESTABLISH A FUND FOR THE PROCEEDS FROM THESE SALES TO BE USED SOLELY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE COUNTY'S SUMMER YOUTH JOBS PROGRAM

BODY
WHEREAS, the County currently uses thousands of ink-based cartridges in its photocopiers, facsimile machines, and printers; and
WHEREAS, the County currently does not have a system for recycling or selling these cartridges after the cartridges' ink supplies are exhausted; and
WHEREAS, there is a market for the sale of these used ink cartridges; and
WHEREAS, the County's summer youth jobs program is a worthy program that provides youth with paid summer jobs within the County government,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board directs the County Manager, within 120 days, to create a system for collecting ink-based cartridges used in photocopiers, facsimile machines, and printers, directs the County Manager to arrange for an appropriate method of sale for these used ink cartridges, and directs the County Manager to establish a fund for the proceeds of such sales to be used solely for the benefit of the County's summer youth jobs program.
