TITLE
RESOLUTION APPROVING RETROACTIVE PROVISION OF IN-KIND POLICE SERVICES FOR THE SWEETWATER FEST WHICH WAS HELD NOVEMBER 17, 2002, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $12,867.79

BODY
WHEREAS, the City of Sweetwater was a town born of adversity in 1941 and has now become a prosperous city with great vision for the future, united to improve and serve its community; and
WHEREAS, following its founder's tradition with its famous town festival, "Strawberry Fest", the City of Sweetwater follows its tradition and presents the "Sweetwater Fest"; and
WHEREAS, the Sweetwater Festival, which celebrated Sweetwater's 61st anniversary and Veterans' Day on November 17, 2002, was a fun filled day for the entire family and featured live music from international groups, a Kids Corner, local radio and TV personalities, international foods, sampling booths, rides, a petting zoo and many more attractions; and
WHEREAS, a festival with an international flavor and diverse multi-ethnic community, it brought over 45,000 people to the streets of Sweetwater from this very colorful city and its adjacent communities such as Westchester, FIU, Fountainbleu, West Miami, the Miccosukee Indians of Florida and the Doral area; and
WHEREAS, part of the proceeds from the Sweetwater Festival will be donated to the senior center of the city for the holiday's baskets and toward Youth Programs of Sweetwater; and
WHEREAS, this Board received a request for the provision of in-kind police services in accordance with Exhibit A attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, this Board desires to support this worthwhile event,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board approves the retroactive provision of in-kind police services for "Sweetwater Fest" which took place on November 17, 2002 in an amount not to exceed $12,867.79.
