DISCUSSION ITEM RELATING TO INSTRUCTIONS TO BE GIVEN TO COUNTY STAFF AND LOBBYISTS REGARDING PROPOSED REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY (RTA) LEGISLATION
Sally A. Heyman, Prime Sponsor
Board of County Commissioners
On April 22, 2003, the members of the Board expressed their strong opposition to the Regional Transportation Authority Bill as it was now drafted, however expressed, if certain amendments were made regarding funding, representation, the opt out clause and the ability to expand the Authority, they would satisfy the concerns of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners. The members of the Board expressed their support of a Regional Transportation Authority as it was initially presented.
It was moved by Commissioner Heyman that, on behalf of the County Commission, Commissioner Barreiro negotiate and provide instructions to the county staff, and lobbyists regarding the proposed Regional Transportation Authority legislation. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Diaz, and upon being put to a vote, passed unanimously by those members present.
