REPORT: Commissioner Heyman requested staff ensure the subject program required identification cards that included a picture that would be difficult for anyone to transfer and that penalties were imposed for improper transfers. (See Legislative File No. 041300) Commissioner Martinez requested a report explaining the impact of the foregoing resolution and the impact of the resolution implementing the Patriot Passport Program on the Transit Pro Forma. Commissioner Sorenson asked that staff seek federal funding to mitigate the fiscal impact of the foregoing resolution and the fiscal impact of the resolution implementing the Patriot Passport Program on the Transit Pro Forma.

TITLE
RESOLUTION MODIFYING TRANSIT FARE STRUCTURE FOR THREE YEARS TO ALLOW MIAMI-DADE COUNTY RESIDENTS TO USE THE TRANSIT SYSTEM WITHOUT PAYING A FARE IF THEY (1) ARE HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS, AND (2) THEIR HOUSEHOLD INCOME DOES NOT EXCEED THE STANDARD THRESHOLD APPLIED TO DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY FOR THE LOW-INCOME, SENIOR CITIZEN'S ADDITIONAL HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION

BODY
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners desires to accomplish the purposes outlined in the accompanying County Manager's report, a copy of which is incorporated herein by reference,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, that pursuant to Section 2-150 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, transit fare structure is modified to allow Miami-Dade County residents to use the transit system without paying a fare if they (1) are honorably discharged veterans, and (2) their household income does not exceed the standard threshold applied to determine eligibility for the low-income, senior citizen's additional homestead exemption.
