TITLE
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE SOUTH FLORIDA SUPER BOWL HOST COMMITTEE'S BID TO HOST THE 2009 SUPER BOWL XLIII

BODY
WHEREAS, South Florida has an opportunity to host the 2009 Super Bowl; and
WHEREAS, South Florida recently hosted Super Bowls XXIX in 1995 and XXXIII in 1999 and will host Susper Bowl XLI in 2007; and
WHEREAS, our community has a proven track record of successfully hosting the Super Bowl; and
WHEREAS, over 110,000 people are expected to visit the host community during the two weeks of Super Bowl Festivities; and
WHEREAS, at least 750 million viewers around the world will focus their eyes on our community as they watch the event on television; and
WHEREAS, hosting this momentous sporting event in our community provides a tremendous opportunity to boost our tourism industry and local economy; and
WHEREAS, the total economic impact on a host community from the Super Bowl is estimated in excess of $300 million; and
WHEREAS, the Board has previously recognized the significance of hosting this event and has shown its commitment to the 1995,1999 and 2007 games through grant funding and in-kind support of the game and its surrounding activities,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
Section 1. This Board supports the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee's bid to host Super Bowl XLIII in 2009 and pledge's Miami-Dade County's assistance, within available resources to implement yet another successful Super Bowl.
Section 2. The Miami-Dade Police Department will provide public safety services at the stadium on game day only for NFL sanctioned events to include escort services for teams and officials on an in-kind basis.
Section 3. The Miami-Dade Fire Department will provide fire/rescue services at the stadium on game day only.
Section 4. The Miami-Dade County Aviation Department is committed to cooperate with those needing special services in connection with the Super Bowl game including arrival and departure of team charters, private planes and special fan charters.
Section 5. The Miami Dade Consumer Services Department shall issue additional licenses or permits for limousines and shuttles, if needed, waive the regular fees for licensing of these vehicles and assess a nominal fee of $100 per company to cover administrative costs.
Section 6. Miami-Dade County will provide administrative support to the Host Committee in the form of loaned executives and provide in-kind support as needed in preparation for game day.
Section 7. Miami-Dade County will not sponsor any Super Bowl related promotional activities during the Super Bowl period which detract from or interfere with promotional activities of the National Football League in connection with the Super Bowl game to the extent that there is no conflict with County contracts.
