Add the word "Arts" to the African Cariibean Cultural Arts Cooridor 3. Correct the spelling of the name Revernd Samuel Atchison

TITLE
RESOLUTION URGING THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TO DESIGNATE N.W. 7TH AVENUE BETWEEN 36TH STREET AND 79TH STREET AS ''AFRICAN CARIBBEAN CULTURAL ARTS CORRIDOR''; N.W. 7TH AVENUE BETWEEN 54TH STREET AND 60TH STREET AS ''OSUN'S VILLAGE''; AND N.W. 7TH AVENUE BETWEEN 62ND STREET AND 95TH STREET AS ''REVEREND SAMUEL ATCHISON BOULEVARD''

BODY

WHEREAS, Senator Larcenia Bullard and Representative Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall have filed bills for the upcoming 2006 state legislative session, SB 308 and HB 121, that would designate parts of N.W. 7th Avenue in Miami-Dade County as the "African Caribbean Cultural Arts Corridor" and "Osun's Village"; and
WHEREAS, this Board supports the naming of N.W. 7th Avenue in this manner, but would further respectfully request the naming of a section of N.W. 7th Avenue in honor of Reverend Samuel Atchison; and
WHEREAS, section 334.071, Florida Statutes, provides that the erection of markers shall be contingent on the appropriate city or county commission passing a resolution in support of the particular honorary road designation,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Urges the Florida Legislature to designate N.W. 7th Avenue between 36th Street and 79th Street as the "African Caribbean Cultural Arts Corridor."

Section 2. Urges the Florida Legislature to designate N.W. 7th Avenue between 54th Street and 60th Street as "Osun's Village."
Section 3. Urges the Florida Legislature to designate N.W. 7th Avenue between 62nd Street and 95th Street as "Reverend Samuel Atchison Boulevard."
Section 4. Directs the Clerk of the Board to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to the Chair and members of the Miami-Dade County State Legislative Delegation, and Senator Larcenia Bullard and Representative Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall.
Section 5. Directs the County's state lobbyists to advocate for the passage of the legislation set forth in Sections 1, 2 and 3 above, and directs the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs to include these items in the 2006 State Legislative Package.
