TITLE
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A WAIVER OF TERMINAL TARIFF FEES AT THE DANTE B. FASCELL PORT OF MIAMI-DADE AND AUTHORIZING IN-KIND SERVICES FROM THE MIAMI-DADE SEAPORT, THE MIAMI-DADE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND THE MIAMI-DADE FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT FOR THE FEBRUARY 2-11, 2007 COMMISSIONING OF THE USS GRIDLEY SPONSORED BY BROWARD NAVY DAYS, INC., A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $42,123.00 TO BE COMPRISED IN PART FROM THE WAIVER OF TERMINAL TARIFF FEES, IN PART FROM THE COUNTYWIDE IN-KIND RESERVE FUND, IN PART FROM THE SEAPORT DEPARTMENTAL BUDGET AND IN PART FROM THE FIRE RESCUE DISTRICT BUDGET

BODY
WHEREAS, the USS Gridley is a guided missile destroyer that will be visiting the Dante B. Fascell Port of Miami-Dade February 2-11, 2007 and will be commissioned to join the U.S. Navy fleet on February 10, 2007; and
WHEREAS, the commissioning of the USS Gridley is the first time that the Dante B. Fascell Port of Miami has hosted a U.S. Navy vessel commissioning; and
WHEREAS, Broward Navy Days, Inc. has requested a waiver of the Port of Miami Terminal Tariff fees and in-kind services from the Miami-Dade Seaport, the Miami-Dade Police Department, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department for the commissioning of the USS Gridley in an amount not to exceed $42,123.00 (see the attached Fee Waiver/In-Kind Service Application); and
WHEREAS, Broward Navy Days, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization; and
WHEREAS, the commissioning of the USS Gridley is a major event, as that term is defined in the attached Fee Waiver/In-Kind Service Application; and
WHEREAS, the Board desires to waive $13,080.00 of the Port of Miami Terminal Tariff fees, and $3,704.00 of the in-kind services shall be funded from the Countywide In-Kind Reserve Fund, $24,439.00 shall be funded from the Seaport Departmental Budget, and $900.00 of the in-kind services shall be funded from the Fire Rescue District Budget,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board authorizes a waiver of Port of Miami Terminal Tariff fees at the Dante B. Fascell Port of Miami-Dade and authorizes in-kind services from the Miami-Dade Seaport, the Miami-Dade Police Department, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department for the February 2-11, 2007 commissioning of the USS Gridley in an amount not to exceed $42,123.00, to be comprised in part from the waiver of Port of Miami Terminal Tariff fees, in part from the Countywide In-Kind Reserve Fund, in part from the Seaport Departmental Budget, and in part from the non-ad valorem portion of the Fire Rescue Budget.
