TITLE
RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE CLERK OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO PROVIDE THE COMMISSION WITH NOTICE OF CERTAIN ADVISORY BOARD VACANCIES

BODY
WHEREAS, this Commission has established numerous advisory boards to make recommendations to the Commission regarding the Commission’s varied duties and responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, advisory boards are often unable to schedule certain meetings or are required to cancel meetings due to failure to achieve a quorum; and
WHEREAS, Section 2-11.38.3 of the Code of Miami-Dade County provides that “Notwithstanding any other provision of the Code or of any resolution, if a vacancy on any County board which is subject to individual commissioner appointment remains unfilled for more than thirty (30) days, it may thereafter be filled by action of the County Commission”; and
WHEREAS, numerous advisory board vacancies continue to exist beyond thirty (30) days; and
WHEREAS, the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners (“Clerk”) is uniquely qualified to regularly advise the Commission of advisory board vacancies in an effort to decrease the vacancy rate,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Clerk is directed to deliver to the Board of County Commissioners, at each regularly scheduled Commission meeting, a written report specifying unfilled advisory board vacancies subject to individual commissioner appointment that have been vacant in excess of thirty (30) days and to list the names of individuals applying for vacant advisory board positions.
