REPORT:	Assistant County Attorney McCarty read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. It was moved by Commissioner Sosa that this proposed resolution be forwarded to the County Commission with a favorable recommendation. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Diaz. Commissioner Diaz asked that he be listed as a co-sponsor. Hearing no other questions or comments, the Committee proceeded to vote.

TITLE
RESOLUTION URGING THE CITY OF MIAMI TO PASS A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE DESIGNATION OF W. FLAGLER STREET FROM 67TH AVENUE TO 72ND AVENUE AS ''ARNOLD M. VELAZQUEZ BOULEVARD''

BODY
WHEREAS, during the 2007 regular session, the Florida Legislature passed CS/SB 138, which among other road designations, designates W. Flagler Street from 67th Avenue to 72nd Avenue as "Arnold M. Velazquez Boulevard"; and
WHEREAS, section 334.071, Florida Statutes, provides that the installation of road designation signs shall be contingent on the applicable city commission passing a resolution in support of the particular honorary road designation; and
WHEREAS, before the Florida Department of Transportation will install signs reflecting the Arnold M. Velazquez Boulevard road designation, the Miami City Commission will need to pass a resolution in support of the road designation,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Urges the City of Miami to pass this resolution supporting the designation of W. Flagler Street from 67th Avenue to 72nd Avenue as �Arnold M. Velazquez Boulevard.�
Section 2. Directs the Clerk of the Board to transmit certified copies of this resolution to the Mayor and members of the Miami City Commission.
