TITLE
RESOLUTION RETROACTIVELY AUTHORIZING IN-KIND SERVICES FROM THE MIAMI-DADE FIRE RESCUE DEPARTMENT AND THE MIAMI-DADE PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT FOR THE OCTOBER 4-5, 2008 �6TH ANNUAL SOUTH FLORIDA DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL� SPONSORED BY UNITED CHINESE ASSOCIATION OF FLORIDA., A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $10,000.00 TO BE FUNDED IN PART FROM THE DISTRICT 4 IN-KIND RESERVE FUND, AND IN PART FROM THE NON-AD VALOREM PORTION OF THE FIRE RESCUE DISTRICT BUDGET

BODY
WHEREAS, the United Chinese Association of Florida, Inc. has requested in-kind services from the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department and Miami-Dade Park and Recreation Department for the October 4-5, 2008 �6th Annual South Florida Dragon Boat Festival� event in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00 (see attached Fee Waiver/In-kind Service Application); and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the �6th Annual South Florida Dragon Boat Festival� event is to, among other things, promote a fun family festival through Dragon Boat races, raise funds to give back to the community, showcase South Florida�s diverse Asian American communities and to increase fitness and health awareness; and
WHEREAS, the United Chinese Association of Florida, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization; and
WHEREAS, the �6th Annual South Florida Dragon Boat Festival� is a district event, as that term is defined on the attached Fee Waiver/In-kind Service Application, and $7,976.00 of the in-kind services shall be funded from the District 4 In-kind Reserve Fund and $2,024.00 of the in-kind services shall be funded from the non-ad valorem portion of the Fire Rescue District In-kind Reserve Fund,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board retroactively authorizes in-kind services from Miami-Dade Park Recreation Department and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department for the October 4-5, 2008 �6th Annual South Florida Dragon Boat Festival� in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00 to be funded in part from the District 4 In-kind Reserve Fund and in part from the non-ad valorem portion of the Fire Rescue In-kind Reserve Fund.
