TITLE
RESOLUTION CO-DESIGNATING NE 26TH AVENUE FROM NE 203RD STREET TO NE 205TH STREET AS “ROSA AND NATHAN ROK AVENUE”

BODY
WHEREAS, Rosa and Nathan Rok immigrated from Cuba in 1964; and
WHEREAS, the Roks lost their son Benny in a tragic car accident in 1982 and his name is currently memorialized at Beth Torah’s Benny Rok Campus; and
WHEREAS, Rosa and Nathan Rok have served as leaders in many community groups, including the Guardian Angels of Jackson Memorial Hospital, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and the American Medical Center in Denver, Colorado; and
WHEREAS, Nathan Rok passed away five years ago and his widow has kept his spirit alive by continuing contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, Rosa Rok has served as a fundraiser for the local chapter of Hadassah Hospital and has been a supporter of the Solomon Hillel Community Day School among other activities; and
WHEREAS, NE 26th Avenue from NE 203rd Street to NE 205th Street is a County road located in unincorporated Miami-Dade County and is in County Commission District 4,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Finds that Rosa and Nathan Rok have made direct significant lifetime contributions to this community.
Section 2. By a three-fifths vote of the Board Members present, codesignates NE 26th Avenue from NE 203rd Street to NE 205th Street as “Rosa and Nathan Rok Avenue”.
Section 3. Directs the Clerk of the Board to transmit certified copies of this Resolution to the United States Postal Service, the Traffic Signals and Signs Division of the Public Works Department and Land Development Division of the Public Works Department, the Miami-Dade Police Department, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department.
