REPORT: First Assistant County Attorney Abigail Price-Williams read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. Chairman Moss opened the public hearing and called for persons wishing to appear before the Commission in connection with this proposed resolution. After hearing no one, he closed the public hearing. Chairman Moss announced that all commissioners would be added as co-sponsors. Commissioner(s) Barreiro and Jordan noted memories of the late Joseph Bryant, and on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners presented Mr. Bryant’s family with the resolution naming the Miami-Dade Transit Metromover Maintenance Facility in honor of his 30 years of County service and in memory of his giving his life in the line of duty. The family of the late Joseph Bryant expressed their appreciation to the County Commission. Mr. Harpal Kapoor, Transit Director, spoke of Mr. Bryant’s accomplishments and noted he was hopeful that his memory would live forever by naming the Facility after him. County Manager George Burgess noted the entire County family was honored that Mr. Bryant dedicated his career to serving the people of Miami-Dade County. Chairman Moss announced the unveiling of the bronze plaque would begin at 1:00 p.m. today to officially name the Joseph Bryant Metromover Maintenance Facility located across the street from the Stephen P. Clark Government Center. Note: This item is being reprinted to correct a scrivener's error.

TITLE
RESOLUTION NAMING THE MIAMI-DADE TRANSIT METROMOVER MAINTENANCE FACILITY AFTER JOSEPH BRYANT

BODY
WHEREAS, Joseph Bryant was a dedicated Miami-Dade Transit employee for 28 years; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Bryant spent fifteen years in the Metromover Maintenance Division, rising to the rank of Metromover Maintenance Supervisor; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Bryant was an exemplary County employee, as evidenced by his multiple awards, including employee of the month and the coveted Miami-Dade Transit Employee of the Quarter; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Bryant tragically lost his life while on duty on the evening of June 19, 2009; and
WHEREAS, the Metromover Maintenance Facility is located at 100 S.W. 1st Avenue, within County Commission District 5,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board hereby approves the naming of the Metromover Maintenance Facility at 100 S.W. 1st Avenue as the �Joseph Bryant Metromover Maintenance Facility.�
