REPORT: First Assistant County Attorney Abigail Price-Williams read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. Chairman Moss opened the public hearing and called for persons wishing to appear before the Commission in connection with this proposed resolution. After hearing no one, he closed the public hearing. There being no questions or comments, the Commission proceeded to vote.

TITLE
RESOLUTION CO-DESIGNATING NW 58TH STREET AT THE INTERSECTION OF NW 79TH AVENUE AS ��ANDRES L. VARAS STREET��

BODY
WHEREAS, Andres L. Varas was born and raised in Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, at age 43, Andres L. Varas was diagnosed with a brain tumor and passed away on June 2, 2008, leaving behind his wife, two small children, his mother and brothers; and
WHEREAS, from an early age, Varas dedicated his time to building his business that grew from a small family-owned company to a major fuel and oil distributor, BV Oil Company; and
WHEREAS, during both Hurricane Andrew and Hurricane Katrina, Andres L. Varas put his effort and dedication towards helping those in need by donating fuel to the trucks carrying much needed supplies; and
WHEREAS, this Board would like to honor Andres L. Varas with this co-designation; and
WHEREAS, NW 58th Street is a County road located in unincorporated Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, this proposed codesignation is located in County Commission District 12,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Having considered this matter at a public hearing, co-designates NW 58th Street at the intersection of NW 79th Avenue as �Andres L. Varas Street�.
Section 2. Directs the Clerk of the Board to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to the United States Postal Service, the Traffic Signals and Signs Division of the Public Works Department and Land Development Division of the Public Works Department, the Miami-Dade Police Department, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department.
