REPORT:	Assistant County Attorney Abigail Price-Williams read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. Chairman Moss opened the public hearing and called for persons wishing to appear before the Commission in connection with this proposed resolution. After hearing no one, he closed the public hearing. Commissioner Diaz recognized the family of the late Captain Alberto Bencosme. He expressed the honor to have introduced legislation supporting the co-designation of NW 92 Avenue from Okeechobee Frontage Road to NW 122 Street in the memory of Captain Bencosme. There being no further questions or comments, the Commission proceeded to vote.

TITLE
RESOLUTION CO-DESIGNATING NW 92nd AVENUE FROM OKEECHOBEE FRONTAGE ROAD TO NW 122nd STREET AS �CAPTAIN ALBERTO BENCOSME AVENUE�; URGING THE CITY OF HIALEAH GARDENS TO JOIN IN SUCH CO-DESIGNATION

BODY
WHEREAS, Captain Bencosme graduated from American Senior High School, Hialeah, Florida in 1997 and after graduation went on to the Eig-Watson School of Aviation at Miami-Dade College; and
WHEREAS, Captain Bencosme joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he earned the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 2004; and
WHEREAS, Captain Bencosme was promoted by the Secretary of the Navy to the rank of Captain on December 1, 2008, less than a month before a fatal crash near Cherry Point, North Carolina ended his lifelong dream at age 28; and
WHEREAS, this Board would like to honor the memory of Captain Bencosme by co-designating NW 92nd Avenue from Okeechobee Frontage Road to NW 122nd Street as �Captain Alberto Bencosme Avenue�; and
WHEREAS, this proposed co-designation is a county road located in the City of Hialeah Gardens in County Commission District 12,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Having conducted a public hearing, co-designates NW 92nd Avenue from Okeechobee Frontage Road to NW 122nd Street as �Captain Alberto Bencosme Avenue.�
Section 2. Urges the City of Hialeah Gardens to join Miami-Dade County in this codesignation.
Section 3. Directs the Clerk of the Board to send certified copies of this resolution to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Hialeah Gardens, the United States Postal Service, the Traffic Signals and Signs Division of the Public Works Department, and Land Development Division of the Public Works Department, the Miami-Dade Police Department, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department.
