TITLE
RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE MAYOR OR MAYOR’S DESIGNEE TO WORK TOGETHER WITH THE CITY OF MIAMI IN THE USE OF THE COUNTY’S AND THE CITY’S FIREBOATS IN AN EFFORT TO SAVE MONEY, MORE PRODUCTIVELY USE AVAILABLE RESOURCES, AND ENHANCE RESPONSE TO MARINE INCIDENTS IN ALL OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY

BODY
WHEREAS, the fire departments of Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami each have their own fire boats that are capable of responding to a variety of marine based emergencies; and
WHERAS, the County’s fire boats are stationed at Station 73 in the Port of Miami and the City of Miami’s fire boats are located at the Marina at Bayside; and
WHEREAS, the County and the City of Miami continue to face budgetary challenges and this Board desires that these units cooperate together to the extent possible in order to realize financial savings to all there departments and to more productively use available resources,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board directs the Mayor or Mayor’s designee to work together with the City of Miami to find ways for the fire departments of Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami to work cooperatively in their use of the fire boats in an effort to save money, to more efficiently and productively use available resources, and to enhance response to marine incidents in all of Miami-Dade County.
