REPORT: | Assistant County Attorney Daniel Frastai read into the record the recommended language for the proposed amendment to forgoing proposed resolution. The Board adopted the foregoing proposed resolution as amended to insert the following language in the ‘NOW THEREFORE clause on handwritten page 3, line 7, after (3): “…and the Building Code Compliance Office…” between the words “Department” and “addressing,” as requested by Assistant County Attorney Frastai. | ||||||

TITLE RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE COUNTY MAYOR OR DESIGNEE TO CONDUCT AN ANALYSIS AND PROVIDE A REPORT TO THE BOARD REGARDING THE POSSIBILITY OF CREATING A PROGRAM TO USE PREFABRICATED HOMES FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING UNITS BODY WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County provides significant funding for affordable housing programs throughout the County; and WHEREAS, this Board desires to evaluate the potential for creating a program for using prefabricated homes for affordable housing units, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board directs the County Mayor or his designee to conduct an analysis for the development of a County program that would utilize prefabricated homes for affordable housing. Such analysis should include, but not be limited to: (1) a report from GSA of all available County property that may be used in such a program; (2) a zoning analysis of the potential properties identified by GSA and what steps if any should be taken in furtherance of the program; (3) reports from the Building Department and the Building Code Compliance Office addressing any potential Building Code issues with such a program; and (4) a report describing any available state or federal funding sources, such as FEMA, that may be used to fund the program. The County Mayor or his designee is further directed to present to this Board a report regarding the findings of the study and a plan for implementation within sixty (60) days after the adoption of this resolution. |
