TITLE
RESOLUTION URGING THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TO CO-DESIGNATE NW 107TH AVENUE FROM FLAGLER STREET TO NW 7TH STREET AS �CUBAN-AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF CIVIL ENGINEERS WAY�

BODY
WHEREAS, the Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers, Inc. is a non-for-profit organization that was founded in Miami in 1961; and
WHEREAS, the Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers is committed to promoting the highest levels of professionalism for its members, securing respect for all professionals in an environment where they can flourish; and
WHEREAS, many members of this organization often serve on local, state and federal government positions, technical boards as well as community social services and charitable organizations; and
WHEREAS, in 1969, the Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers established a scholarship fund, which has been extended to all universities that have a Civil Engineering Curriculum in the State of Florida; and
WHEREAS, NW 107th Avenue from Flagler Street to NW 7th Street is a state road located in unincorporated Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, this Board would like to recognize the contributions of the Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers by urging the Florida Legislature to co-designate NW 107th Avenue from Flagler Street to NW 7th Street as �Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers Way�; and
WHEREAS, this proposed co-designation is located in County Commission Districts 10 and 12,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Urges the Florida Legislature to co-designate NW 107th Avenue from Flagler Street to NW 7th Street as �Cuban-American Association of Civil Engineers Way�.
Section 2. Directs the Clerk of the Board to transmit certified copies of the resolution to the Governor, the Senate President, the House Speaker, and the Chair and Members of the Miami-Dade State Legislative Delegation.
Section 3. Directs the County's state lobbyists to advocate for the issue identified in Section 1 above, and authorizes and directs the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs to include this item in the 2010 and 2011 state legislative packages.
