TITLE
RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE COUNTY MAYOR OR MAYOR’S DESIGNEE PREPARE A WRITTEN REPORT EXPLORING THE USE OF PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS TO ASSIST IN RESOLVING THE CURRENT FINANCIAL CRISIS AT THE PUBLIC HEALTH TRUST; AND UPDATING THE STATUS OF ALL CURRENT PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS

BODY


WHEREAS, the County and/or County agencies may contract with private entities, including non-profit corporations, for the development, construction, operation and/or maintenance of capital (“Public/Private Partnerships”); and
WHEREAS, such Public/Private Partnerships afford the County access to additional funding from private sector resources, which provides an alternative method of financing such projects; and
WHEREAS, the County has a Public/Private Partnerships advisory pool whose purpose is to instruct and inform the County on the existence of potential Public/Private Partnerships; and
WHEREAS, the Public Health Trust, an agency and instrumentality of the County is currently operating with a large budgetary deficit and may potentially benefit from the formation of a Public/Private Partnership; and
WHEREAS, it is this Board’s desire that the Mayor prepare a written report for submission to this Board, exploring how Public/Private Partnerships may be utilized to assist in resolving the current financial crisis at the Public Health Trust and providing certain information with respect to all Public/Private Partnerships which are either under construction, in negotiation, at the competitive solicitation stage, or contemplated to be undertaken within the next twenty (24) four months, including but not limited to all Public/Private Partnerships which have been identified by the County’s Public/Private Partnerships advisory pool,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are incorporated in this resolution and are approved.
Section 2. This Board requests that the Mayor or Mayor’s designee submit a written report to this Board within thirty (30) days from the effective date of this resolution, exploring how Public/Private Partnerships may be utilized to assist in resolving the current financial crisis at the Public Health Trust and updating the status of all Public/Private Partnerships which have been established, in negotiation, at the competitive solicitation stage, or contemplated to be undertaken within the next twenty four (24) months, including but not limited to all Public/Private Partnerships which have been identified by the County’s Public/Private Partnerships advisory pool.
