WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of State, through its Office of International Visitor Leadership Program, has expressed a preliminary interest in participating together with Miami-Dade County in a program which could provide funding to the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department to assist in the training and the reestablishment of permanent fire services and facilities in Delmas,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Mayor or the Mayor’s designee is hereby authorized and directed to communicate with the United States Department of State for the purpose of participating in a program which would provide funding for reestablishing permanent fire services and facilities in the City of Delmas, Haiti, and to execute any application or document or take any other act necessary or appropriate to accomplish the intent of this resolution, with the express proviso that any action which binds the County to the expenditure of funds or in-kind donation or services not otherwise authorized shall require the express approval of this Board.
