TITLE RESOLUTION APPROVING THE STATE CO-DESIGNATION OF THAT PORTION OF N.E. 82ND TERRACE BETWEEN N.E. 2ND AVENUE AND N. MIAMI AVENUE IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY AS �CENTER FOR HAITIAN STUDIES STREET� BODY WHEREAS, during the 2010 regular session, the Florida Legislature passed HB 1033, which co-designated that portion of N.E. 82nd Terrace between N.E. 2nd Avenue and N. Miami Avenue in Miami-Dade County as �Center for Haitian Studies Street�; and WHEREAS, the Center for Haitian Studies, Inc. (�CHS�) is a duly registered non-profit, health and social service organization which was founded in 1988 for the purpose of serving the disenfranchised populations of Little Haiti/Little River in Miami; and WHEREAS, CHS provides services to members of the population including, but not limited to, education, free health services for the indigent, psychosocial counseling, case management, home-delivered meals, food bank, direct financial assistance and transportation; and WHEREAS N.E. 82nd Terrace between N.E. 2nd Avenue and N. Miami Avenue is a state road located in Miami-Dade County; and WHEREAS, section 334.071, Florida Statutes, provides that the installation of road designation signs shall be contingent on the applicable county or city commission passing a resolution in support of the particular honorary road designation; and WHEREAS, this co-designation is located in County Commission District 3, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board: Section 1. Approves the state road co-designation of N.E. 82nd Terrace between N.E. 2nd Avenue and N. Miami Avenue as �Center for Haitian Studies Street.� Section 2. Directs the Clerk of the Board to send certified copies of this Resolution to the Secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation and the Traffic Signals and Signs Division of the Public Works Department and Land Development Division of the Public Works Department. |
