TITLE
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE STATE CO-DESIGNATION OF THE RAMP THAT CONNECTS THE NORTHBOUND HOMESTEAD EXTENSION OF FLORIDA�S TURNPIKE TO NORTHBOUND INTERSTATE 75 AS "ANDREW J. CAPELETTI MEMORIAL RAMP"

BODY
WHEREAS, during the 2010 regular session, the Florida Legislature passed HB 5 which co-designated the ramp that connects the northbound Homestead Extension of Florida�s Turnpike to northbound Interstate 75 (�the Ramp�) as "Andrew J. Capeletti Memorial Ramp"; and
WHEREAS, Andrew J. Capeletti was founder of Capeletti Bros., Inc., a construction engineering firm responsible for building many of the highways and bridges in Florida from Fort Pierce to the Florida Keys, including the Golden Glades Interchange, major sections of I-95, I75, I-595, Florida�s Turnpike and the Miami Avenue Bridge; and
WHEREAS, Capeletti served as President of the Metropolitan Dade County Engineering Contractors Examining Board, Florida Limerock Association, Engineering Contractors Association of South Florida and the Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida; and
WHEREAS, Capeletti civic contributions are numerous, including serving as the President of the Hialeah-Miami Springs Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Capeletti died in 1991; and
WHEREAS, the Ramp to be named in honor of Capeletti is a state road located in unincorporated Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, section 334.071, Florida Statutes, provides that the installation of road designation signs shall be contingent on the applicable county or city commission passing a resolution in support of the particular honorary road designation; and
WHEREAS, this co-designation is located in County Commission District 12,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Approves the state road co-designation of the ramp that connects the northbound Homestead Extension of Florida�s Turnpike to northbound Interstate 75 (�the Ramp�) as "Andrew J. Capeletti Memorial Ramp."
Section 2. Directs the Clerk of the Board to send certified copies of this Resolution to the Secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation and the Traffic Signals and Signs Division of the Public Works Department and Land Development Division of the Public Works Department.
