TITLE
RESOLUTION DIRECTING MAYOR OR DESIGNEE TO EVALUATE LIFEBRIDGE FREE LIFE INSURANCE PROGRAM OFFERED BY MASSACHUSETTS MUTUAL LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY AND PREPARE A REPORT REGARDING THE ADVISABILITY OF NOTIFYING COUNTY EMPLOYEES AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTY CITIZENS REGARDING THE AVAILABILITY OF THIS PROGRAM

BODY
WHEREAS, Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (�MassMutual�) was founded in 1851; and
WHEREAS, MassMutual has established the LifeBridge Free Life Insurance Program (�LifeBridge Program�); and
WHEREAS, according to MassMutual, the LifeBridge Program is a free life insurance program for income-eligible families which includes a $50,000, 10-year life insurance policy which is issued to a trust on the life of a qualifying parent or legal guardian; and
WHEREAS, MassMutual has stated that the life insurance coverage is designed to pay for the education of children if a parent dies before his or her children complete their schooling; and
WHEREAS, according to MassMutual, there are less than 10,000 policies available for this geographic area; and
WHEREAS, the Commission believes that it is in the best interest of the citizens of Miami-Dade County to explore the advisability of notifying County employees and residents regarding the availability of the LifeBridge Program,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Mayor or designee is directed to evaluate the LifeBridge Free Life Insurance Program offered by MassMutual and prepare a report regarding the advisability of notifying County employees and Miami-Dade County citizens regarding the availability of this program. The Mayor shall submit a copy of the report to the appropriate committee within thirty (30) days from the adoption of this resolution.
