TITLE
RESOLUTION URGING COUNTY EMPLOYEES TO WEAR PINK DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER IN SUPPORT OF BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

BODY
WHEREAS, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its causes, prevention and cure; and
WHEREAS, in 1991, the Susan G. Komen Foundation handed out pink ribbons to participants in its New York City race for breast cancer survivors; and
WHEREAS, the color pink has become associated with Breast Cancer Awareness Month; and
WHEREAS, the Commission believes that County employees should wear pink during the month of October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that County employees are urged to wear pink during the month of October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
