TITLE RESOLUTION CO-DESIGNATING FIRE RESCUE STATION 59 AS THE ROBERT �CASEY� LAMME STATION IN MEMORY OF FIREFIGHTER ROBERT LAMME BODY WHEREAS, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue provides the most efficient and professional response to the broadest range of emergency incidents by having the best and most capable crew available at all times to initiate lifesaving efforts at the scene of any emergency; and WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County owns and operates more than 60 fire stations throughout the County, including Fire Rescue Station 59, located at 5690 NW 36 Street in Miami (�Station 59�); and WHEREAS, Firefighter Robert �Casey� Lamme (�Lamme�) served Miami-Dade County residents with honor and distinction for ten years at Station 59; and WHEREAS, On April 26, 1981, Lamme stopped to render aid to a motorist trapped in a burning vehicle; and WHEREAS, Lamme was unaware that the victim�s car had hit a power pole and was electrocuted while trying to undertake a selfless and heroic rescue; and WHEREAS, Firefighter Lamme died in the line of duty; and WHEREAS, in recognition of Lamme�s extraordinary heroism and years of service to the community, this Board wishes to dedicate Station 59 to his memory; and WHEREAS, Station 59 is located in Commission District 6, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board: Section 1. Having conducted a public hearing, co-designates Station 59 as the �Robert �Casey� Lamme Station�. Section 2. The Clerk of the Board is directed to send certified copies of this Resolution to the United States Postal Service, the Miami-Dade Police Department, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department. |
