RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF HIALEAH CODESIGNATION OF WEST 27 STREET FROM WEST 8 AVENUE TO WEST 9 AVENUE AS �SARVELIO DEL VALLE WAY�

BODY
WHEREAS, on April 12, 2011, the Hialeah City Council adopted Resolution No. 11-29, which designated West 27 Street from West 8 Avenue to West 9 Avenue as �Sarvelio del Valle Way,� in recognition of Sarvelio del Valle�s contributions to the City of Hialeah and to the community, a copy of which is attached and incorporated by reference; and
WHEREAS, Sarvelio del Valle was born in Cuba, where his love for sports flourished into what later became a successful career in radio broadcasting in the U.S.; and
WHEREAS, during his career, del Valle broadcast games for the University of Miami Hurricanes and the Miami Heat; and
WHEREAS, in 1990, del Valle was named the most popular radio sports personality in Miami; and
WHEREAS, del Valle played an important role in local baseball leagues, where he was loved and respected throughout City of Hialeah parks; and
WHEREAS, on May 28, 2009 Sarvelio del Valle passed away; and
WHEREAS, West 27 Street from West 8 Avenue to West 9 Avenue is a city street located in the City of Hialeah; and
WHEREAS, the City of Hialeah wants the County to install signage indicating this codesignation on County street signs and traffic signal masts arms; and
WHEREAS, this codesignation is located in County Commission District 13,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Approves the City of Hialeah codesignation of West 27 Street from West 8 Avenue to West 9 Avenue as �Sarvelio del Valle Way.�
Section 2. Directs the Clerk of the Board to send certified copies of this Resolution to the Mayor of the City of Hialeah, the United States Postal Service, the Traffic Signals and Signs Division of the Miami-Dade County Public Works Department, the Land Development Division of the Public Works Department, the Hialeah Police Department and the Hialeah Fire Department.
