TITLE
RESOLUTION URGING THE MAYOR TO APPOINT A WOMAN TO THE FINANCIAL RECOVERY BOARD FOR THE PUBLIC HEALTH TRUST

BODY
WHEREAS, on May 3, 2011, this Board passed Resolution No. 392-11 establishing a Financial Recovery Board (FRB) for the Public Health Trust pursuant to Chapter 25A, Code of Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, the Board appointed four (4) people to the FRB, the Chair of the MiamiDade Legislative Delegation appointed one (1) person and the President of the South Florida AFL-CIO appointed one (1) person; and
WHEREAS, the incoming Mayor also has an appointment to make to the FRB; and
WHEREAS, the six (6) current appointments to the FRB are all men; and
WHEREAS, in 1992, the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners passed Resolution No. 536-92, which provided that membership on all County advisory boards and committees shall, to the practical extent feasible, be reasonably balanced by gender unless otherwise provided by ordinance or resolution, a copy of which is attached and incorporated by reference; and
WHEREAS, it is important that the FRB have at least one woman as an appointee; and
WHEREAS, the only remaining appointment to the FRB is by the incoming Mayor,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board urges the Mayor to appoint a woman to the Financial Recovery Board for the Public Health Trust.
