REPORT: First Assistant County Attorney Abigail Price-Williams read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. Chairman Martinez opened the public hearing for persons wishing to appear before the Commission in connection with this proposed ordinance. After hearing no one, he closed the public hearing. He closed the public hearing after no one appeared. Hearing no questions or comments, the Commission proceeded to vote on the foregoing proposed resolution as presented. Following the adoption of this resolution Chairman Martinez asked and County Attorney Robert Cuevas confirmed that Mr. Trebbi could address the Commission, provided that the proposed resolution was not being reconsidered. Mr. Bob Trebbi expressed his appreciation to Commissioner Bell, members of the County Commission, and Mayor Gimenez for sponsoring this co-designation in honor of his daughter, Samantha Jade Trebbi. He also acknowledged Village of Palmetto Bay Mayor Shelley Stanczyk and the Palmetto Bay Village Council for their support. Mr. Trebbi said his daughter cut her hair twice in honor of cancer patients and raised money to find a cure for this illness. He said Samantha cared for so many other children; had the love and support of her friends and many members of the community; and would be missed by all. Commissioner Souto asked to be added to this proposed resolution as a co-sponsor.

TITLE
RESOLUTION CODESIGNATING SW 77 AVENUE FROM SW 144 STREET TO SW 152 STREET AS �SAMANTHA JADE TREBBI AVENUE�

BODY
WHEREAS, on June 6, 2011, the Mayor and Village Council of the Village of Palmetto Bay passed Resolution No. 2011-40 requesting that Miami-Dade County codesignate SW 77 Avenue from SW 144 Street to SW 152 Street in honor of the significant contributions that Samantha Jade Trebbi made to the Village and to Miami-Dade County, a copy of which is attached and incorporated by reference; and
WHEREAS, Samantha Jade Trebbi was an outstanding member of the Palmetto Bay community who, on October 11, 2010, tragically passed away at the age of 15 following a severe infection caused by the A Streptococcus bacteria, commonly known as strep throat; and
WHEREAS, Trebbi was a giving young lady that was very involved in volunteer activities, such as working with animal adoption agencies and often cutting her hair for Locks of Love to benefit cancer victims; and
WHEREAS, SW 77 Avenue from SW 144 Street to SW 152 Street is a County road located within the Village of Palmetto Bay; and
WHEREAS, this Board would like to honor the memory of Samantha Jade Trebbi with this codesignation; and
WHEREAS, this proposed codesignation is located in County Commission District 8,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Having considered this matter at a public hearing, codesignates SW 77 Avenue from SW 144 Street to SW 152 Street as �Samantha Jade Trebbi Avenue.�
Section 2. Directs the Clerk of the Board to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to the Mayor of the Village of Palmetto Bay, the United States Postal Service, the Traffic Signals and Signs Division of the Miami-Dade Public Works Department, the Land Development Division of the Miami-Dade Public Works Department, the Miami-Dade Police Department and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department.
