Board of County Commissioners | 9/1/2011 | 5B | Adopted | P
REPORT: | First Assistant County Attorney Abigail Price-Williams read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. Chairman Martinez opened the public hearing for persons wishing to appear before the Commission in connection with this proposed ordinance. After hearing no one, he closed the public hearing. Commissioner Bovo noted Ms. Mayra Capote experienced the loss of her daughter in a tragic accident in 1999. He said Ms Capote held an annual vigil for her daughter and had tirelessly educated others in an effort to prevent other children from suffering the same fate as her daughter. Commissioner Bovo noted that this request was to extend West 68th Street (Mayra Copote Street) an additional four blocks in memory of a child whose life was taken too soon. Commissioners Diaz and Sosa along with Chairman Martinez asked to be listed as co-sponsors of this proposed resolution. Chairman Martinez said this resolution also urged the City of Hialeah to join in this co- designation and asked Clerk of the Board Division Chief Christopher Agrippa to ensure that the foregoing resolution was transmitted to the City of Hialeah as soon as possible. Hearing no further questions or comments, the Commission proceeded to vote on the foregoing proposed resolution as presented.
