PRESENTATION OF A PROCLAMATION FOR NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH

Mayor Gimenez noted that September was National Hurricane Preparedness Month. He said that the County deployed an emergency management team to assist in recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. Mayor Gimenez expressed his appreciation to elected officials, National Weather Service representatives, the American Red Cross – South Florida Region, the Miami-Dade County Health Department, the Miami-Dade County Office of Emergency Management, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department for their efforts to raise hurricane awareness and to keep the community safe.
Commissioner Diaz stressed the importance of community emergency awareness.
Proclamations were presented to the Miami-Dade County Health Department and to the Miami-Dade County Emergency Management Department.
Mr. Pablo Santos, Meteorologist in charge of the Miami National Weather Service office presented the Miami-Dade County Emergency Management Department with the Stone Ready Certification, which recognized the Department for its ability to quickly respond to weather emergencies.
