BODY
WHEREAS, on Saturday, August 6, 2011, insurgents shot down a U.S. military helicopter during fighting in eastern Afghanistan killing 30 U.S. troops, most of whom were members of the the U.S. Navy's Sea, Air and Land Teams, commonly known as Navy SEALs; and
WHEREAS, some of the Navy SEALs killed were part of the same elite unit, SEAL Team 6, that killed Al Quaeda leader Osama bin Laden according to Associated Press reports; and
WHEREAS, the 30 U.S. troops killed represented the worst single-day death toll for U.S. forces in Afghanistan since the start of the war in Afghanistan nearly a decade ago; and
WHEREAS, every night in Afghanistan, U.S. troops leave bases in dozens of helicopters, landing amidst Taliban strongholds in remote areas in an ongoing search for local Taliban leaders; and
WHEREAS, the death of 30 U.S. troops on August 6 serves as a reminder of the heroic efforts taken by U.S. troops in both Afghanistan and Iraq every day; and
WHEREAS, this Board would like to recognize the heroic efforts not only of the 30 U.S. troops shot down on August 6, but also of the heroic efforts undertaken by U.S. troops in Afghanistan, in Iraq and elsewhere in the world every day,
