REPORT: | First Assistant County Attorney Abigail Price-Williams read the title of the foregoing resolution into the record. Chairman Martinez opened the public hearing. There being no one wishing to speak, the public hearing was closed, and the Board proceeded to vote. The foregoing proposed ordinance was adopted on first reading and scheduled for a public hearing before the Infrastructure and Land Use Committee (ILUC) on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. | ||||||

TITLE RESOLUTION CODESIGNATING NW 61ST STREET FROM NW 22ND AVENUE TO NW 27TH AVENUE AS ��REVEREND DR. PHILIP CLARKE, JR. STREET�� BODY WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Philip Clarke, Jr. was born in the Bahamas, where he received his early education; and WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Clarke continued his education by traveling to Miami where he attended Florida Memorial College, receiving a Bachelor in Science Degree in Religious Education in 1972; and WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Clarke also attended Rochester Divinity School in Rochester, New York, St. Thomas University in Miami and Jacksonville Baptist Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Florida; and WHEREAS, in the year 2003, Reverend Dr. Clarke received his Doctor of Divinity degree from Atlantic College, Atlantic Theological Seminary, in Nassau, Bahamas; and WHEREAS, from 1969 to 2011, Reverend Dr. Clarke was Pastor of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, besides his involvement with several affiliations of the Baptist Church, Reverend Dr. Clarke was on the Board of Directors of Miami Job Corps and provided workshops in the community related to Crime Watch, Health Education, Stop the Violence, Aids Education and Leadership Classes; and WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Clarke also founded the Patricia Davis Moss Scholarship Foundation; and WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Clarke passed away on February 2, 2011; and WHEREAS, NW 61st Street from NW 22nd Avenue to NW 27th Avenue is a County road located in unincorporated Miami-Dade County; and WHEREAS, this Board would like to honor the memory of Reverend Dr. Philip Clarke, Jr. with this codesignation; and WHEREAS, this proposed codesignation is located in County Commission District 3, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board: Section 1. Having considered this matter at a public hearing, codesignates NW 61st Street from NW 22nd Avenue to NW 27th Avenue as �Reverend Dr. Philip Clarke, Jr. Street�. Section 2. Directs the Clerk of the Board to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to the United States Postal Service, the Traffic Signals and Signs Division of the Miami-Dade Public Works Department, the Land Development Division of the Public Works Department, the Miami-Dade Police Department and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department. |
