TITLE
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR OR MAYOR�S DESIGNEE TO ENTER IN AN AGREEMENT TO ALLOW THE LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL TO USE MIAMI DADE COUNTY LIBRARIES AND PUBLIC BUILDINGS TO PROVIDE RECEPTACLES FOR THE COLLECTION OF USED EYEGLASSES AND READING GLASSES TO BE COLLECTED BY THE LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL WHICH DISTRIBUTES THEM TO PEOPLE IN NEED

BODY

WHEREAS, the Lions Club International has a long-standing and successful program to collect used eyeglasses and distribute them to people in need; and
WHEREAS, in other jurisdictions, public libraries participate in this effort by providing collection points for people to drop off used eyeglasses and reading glasses; and
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County can contribute to this good work by making its libraries and other public buildings available as collection points,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Mayor or Mayor�s designee is authorized and directed to enter into an agreement to allow Lions Club International, or one of its related organizations, to use the County�s libraries and other public buildings and facilities as collection points where eyeglasses and reading glasses can be dropped off by the public to be collected by the Lions Club International which is engaged in distributing them to people in need.
