Board of County Commissioners 11/15/2011 11A4 Amended
REPORT: See Agenda Item 11A4, Legislative File No. 120585 for the amended version.

Internal Mgmt. & Fiscal Responsibility Committee 10/25/2011 2E Forwarded to BCC with a favorable recommendation P
REPORT: Assistant County Attorney Jess McCarty read the foregoing proposed resolution into the record. Chairwoman Bell noted the Board needed to establish a timeframe for turning over accounts receivables to collection agencies. She said that the County should continue to pursue the remaining debt, notwithstanding the 99 percent collection rate on outstanding debt. In addition, she questioned the financial impact to the County for turning over the remaining debt. Deputy Mayor Ed Marquez noted he envisioned that the County would continue to manage its receivables until they were deemed uncollectible. The receivables would then either be written off in accordance with parameters granted by the Board or the Administration would return to the Board if it exceeded the parameters. Deputy Mayor Marquez noted a decision would then be made whether to package and sell the remaining debt or to turn it over to a collection agency. Commissioner Suarez questioned the types of receivables calculated in the 99 percent collection rate. Deputy Mayor Marquez noted with the exception of property taxes, all accounts receivables were calculated in that rate. Hearing no further questions or comments, the Committee proceeded to vote on the foregoing proposed resolution as presented.
