TITLE
RESOLUTION WAIVING REQUIREMENTS OF ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER 3-38 FOR SECURING SPONSORSHIPS AND PURCHASING GOODS AND SERVICES FOR HOSTING THE 5TH ANNUAL MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURAL AND CATTLE SHOW ON APRIL 13-15, 2012

BODY

WHEREAS, Administrative Order 3-38 was established pursuant to Section 2-8.1 of the Code of Miami-Dade County to establish processes and procedures for County procurements; and
WHEREAS, the 5th Annual Miami International Agricultural and Cattle Show (�MIACS�) is currently scheduled for April 13-15, 2012 and is an important Miami-Dade County event; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the County to hold this event on April 13-15, 2012 and to continue to have this event in the future; and
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County will host the 5th Annual MIACS and the Office of County Commissioner Javier D. Souto, District 10, of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, desires to purchase goods and services with office funds for the event; and
WHEREAS, many of the commodities and services to be purchased for the 5th Annual MIACS are highly specialized and technical in nature, since they relate to agricultural and cattle; and
WHEREAS, the Office of County Commissioner Javier D. Souto will secure sponsors to assist in defraying the costs of this County event; and
WHEREAS, the acquisition of sponsorships and the purchase of goods and services to host the 5th Annual MIACS are below the threshold amount requiring formal sealed bids set forth Section 2-8.1 of the Code of Miami-Dade County,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the requirements of administrative orders, including Administrative Order 3-38, and any and all applicable Miami-Dade County Department of Procurement Guidelines are waived for obtaining sponsorships and purchasing goods and services to host the 5th Annual MIACS on April 13-15, 2012.
