RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF HIALEAH CODESIGNATION OF EAST 7 AVENUE FROM EAST 56 STREET TO EAST 60 STREET AS �DR. ADA HERNANDEZ WAY�

BODY
WHEREAS, on August 9th, 2011, the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Hialeah� adopted Resolution No. 11-75, which designated East 7 Avenue from East 56 Street to East 60 Street as �Dr. Ada Hernandez Way,� in recognition of her contributions to the City of Hialeah, a copy of which is attached and incorporated by reference; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Hernandez attained a Bachelor�s degree and Master�s degree in Early Childhood Education from Florida International University as well as a Specialist and Doctor of Education degree from Nova University with a Major in Early and Middle Childhood Education; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Hernandez was certified as a teacher by the State of Florida in 1976, and began her career as an educator with Miami-Dade Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Hernandez taught at both M. A. Milam and Ben Sheppard Elementary Schools, and later became an Assistant Principal at Hialeah Elementary and Twin Lakes Elementary; and
WHEREAS, in 1996, Dr. Hernandez became Principal at Amelia Earhart Elementary and under her administration, the school went from a �D� to an �A� and has remained an �A� school ever since; and
WHEREAS, East 7 Avenue from East 56 Street to East 60 Street is a city street located in the City of Hialeah; and
WHEREAS, the City of Hialeah wants the County to install signage indicating this codesignation on County street signs and traffic signal masts arms; and
WHEREAS, this codesignation is located in County Commission District 13,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Approves the City of Hialeah codesignation of East 7 Avenue from East 56 Street to East 60 Street as �Dr. Ada Hernandez Way�.
Section 2. Directs the Clerk of the Board to send certified copies of this Resolution to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Hialeah, the United States Postal Service, the Traffic Signals and Signs Division and Land Development/Right-of-Way Division of the Miami-Dade Public Works and Waste Management Department, the Hialeah Police Department and the Hialeah Fire Rescue Department.
