TITLE
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WAIVING TERM LIMITS FOR ART-IN-PUBLIC-PLACES TRUST MEMBER SANDI-JO GORDON AND APPOINTING FOR ANOTHER TERM

BODY
WHEREAS, on January 21, 2010, the Board of County Commissioners enacted Ordinance No. 10-06, amending Chapter 2, Section 2-11.38.2 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, Florida to permit the waiver of term limits for County board members; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-11.38.2 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, the Board of County Commissioners may by resolution adopted by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of members present waive a term limit applicable to a member of a County board; and
WHEREAS, Section 2-11.15(1) of the Code of Miami-Dade County, which governs the Art-in-Public-Places Trust, states that �each Board member shall be appointed to a term which shall end concurrently with the last day of the term of the County Commissioner who appointed the Board member�; and
WHEREAS, the composition and membership of the Miami-Dade County Art-in-Public-Places Trust requires members who are knowledgeable in public art; and
WHEREAS, Sandi-Jo Gordon holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Moore College of Art, is the current Treasurer of Friends of Public Art, and previously served as Trustee for the North Miami Museum; and
WHEREAS, Sandi-Jo Gordon, a valued member of the Art-in-Public-Places Trust since 1995 and its current Vice-Chairwoman, has reached her term limit as a member of the Art-in-Public-Places Trust; and
WHEREAS, Sandi-Jo Gordon�s continued service as a member would help ensure the effective operation of the Art-in-Public-Places Trust; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners wishes to waive the applicable term limits and reappoint Mrs. Gordon to another term,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are incorporated in this resolution and are approved.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 2-11.38.2 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, the Board by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of its present membership, hereby waives the term limit requirement for Sandi-Jo Gordon.
Section 3. The Board reappoints Sandi-Jo Gordon to the Miami-Dade County Art-in-Public-Places Trust for another term.
