TITLE
RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE MAYOR OR THE MAYOR�S DESIGNEE TO REVIEW THE FEBRUARY 2006 RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE ELDER ABUSE TASK FORCE AND TO ADVISE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ON WHAT HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED FROM THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE ELDER ABUSE TASK FORCE, AND TO ADVISE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ON WHAT PORTIONS OF THE RECOMMENDATIONS HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED BY THE STATE OF FLORIDA; FURTHER DIRECTING THE MAYOR OR THE MAYOR�S DESIGNEE TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS FOR ACCOMPLISHING THE MSSION OF THE TASK FORCE

WHEREAS, Resolution R-1311-03 authorized the County Manager to form the Elder Abuse Task Force to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners (the �Board�) on issues addressing the detection and prevention of elder abuse and/or neglect in Assisted Living Facilities, nursing homes, convalescent homes, or other facilities that house or care for the elderly in Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, by memorandum dated February 15, 2006, the County Manager provided a report on Recommendations of the Elder Abuse Task Force to this Board; and
WHEREAS, Resolution R-1072-08 urged the state legislature and other administrative departments within state government to implement certain of the recommendation of the Elder Abuse Task Force,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board directs the Mayor or the Mayor�s designee to review the February 2006 recommendations of the Elder Abuse Task Force and to advise the Board of County Commissioners on what has been implemented from those Recommendations within Miami-Dade County, and to advise the Board of County Commissioners on what portions of the recommendations have been implemented by the Florida legislature and other State of Florida administrative departments. Further directing the Mayor or the Mayor�s designee to provide additional recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners for accomplishing the mission of the Elder Abuse Task Force
