TITLE
RESOLUTION WAIVING TERM LIMITS FOR THE RE-APPOINTMENT OF STEVEN J. ALEXANDER TO THE CULTURAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL

BODY
WHEREAS, on January 21, 2010, the Board of County Commissioners enacted Ordinance No. 10-06, amending Chapter 2, Section 2-11.38.2 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, Florida to permit the waiver of term limits for County Board members; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-11.38.2 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, no board member shall serve for more than eight (8) consecutive years on a board unless waived by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members present of the Board of County Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-293(b)(2) and (d) of the Code of Miami-Dade County, members of the Cultural Affairs Council serve for a four year term and cannot serve more than eight consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners wishes to waive the applicable term limits and reappoint Steven J. Alexander to the Cultural Affairs Council for another term,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board hereby authorizes and approves, by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Board, the re-appointment of Steven J. Alexander to an additional four (4) year term as a member of the Cultural Affairs Council.
