TITLE
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE CITY OF NORTH MIAMI CODESIGNATION OF EMERALD DRIVE WITHIN THE CITY OF NORTH MIAMI AS �CHIEF KENNETH EACH DRIVE�

BODY
WHEREAS, on September 11, 2012, the Mayor and City Council of the City of North Miami adopted Resolution No. R-2012-105 which codesignated Emerald Drive within the City of North Miami as �Chief Kenneth Each Drive,� in recognition of his contributions to the City of North Miami, a copy of which is attached and incorporated by reference, and
WHEREAS, Kenneth Each entered the City of North Miami Police Department in 1970 and during his tenure with the Police Department, Chief Each served as a patrol officer, detective, patrol sergeant, training and planning sergeant, traffic and special operations sergeant, patrol lieutenant, staff lieutenant and division commander, until he was appointed as the Chief of Police in 1991; and
WHEREAS, since his retirement from the North Miami Police Department, Chief Each continues to contribute to the City of North Miami by serving on various boards, such as the Charter Board, Community Redevelopment Agency Committee, Nuisance Abatement Board, and Planning Commission; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his substantial years of service in the North Miami Police Department, Chief Each also served this country in the United States Army, and was awarded numerous accolades including the Purple Heart and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Silver Star; and
WHEREAS, Emerald Drive within the City of North Miami is a city street located in the City of North Miami; and
WHEREAS, the City of North Miami wants the County to install signage indicating this codesignation on County street signs and traffic signal masts arms; and
WHEREAS, this codesignation is located in County Commission District 2,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Approves the City of North Miami codesignation of Emerald Drive within the City of North Miami as �Chief Kenneth Each Drive.�
Section 2. Directs the Clerk of the Board to send certified copies of this Resolution to the City Manager of the City of North Miami, the City of North Miami Police Department, the United States Postal Service, the Miami-Dade County Fire-Rescue Department, the Traffic Signals and Signs Division of the Public Works and Waste Management Department, and the Development Services Division of the Regulatory and Economic Resources Department.
