TITLE
RESOLUTION RE-NAMING BICENTENNIAL PARK METROMOVER STATION AS MUSEUM PARK METROMOVER STATION

BODY
WHEREAS, the Building Better Communities Bond Program, approved by Miami-Dade County voters in November 2004, includes a significant commitment of funds for the design and construction of two (2) new museums, the Miami Art Museum (MAM) and the Miami Science Museum (MSM), in Museum Park (formerly known as Bicentennial Park); and
WHEREAS, these new museums are key projects in establishing Miami-Dade County�s international status as a major cultural center; and
WHEREAS, the groundbreaking for the MAM occurred in December 2010 and the groundbreaking for the MSM occurred in February 2012 and both museums are currently under construction; and
WHEREAS, both museums are located on sites within what is now known as Museum Park; and
WHEREAS, the Bicentennial Park Metromover Station, which is currently closed, is located at 1191 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, Florida, within Commission District 3 and adjacent to the new MAM and MSM at Museum Park; and
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade Transit is renovating the Bicentennial Park Metromover Station with the objective of re-opening the station to serve the new museums and Museum Park; and
WHEREAS, renaming the station as Museum Park Metromover Station will promote and identify Museum Park and promote and identify these new museums;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board hereby approves the re-naming of Bicentennial Park Metromover Station as Museum Park Metromover Station.
